Europe's Sex Toy Search Map 2026: Which Country Searches for What?

By LuvlyPlay Team · Updated October 2026
Vintage map of Europe with pins, a notebook with a bar chart sketch and rose petals

In short: We compared Google searches for sex toys in 15 countries, per 100,000 people. The Netherlands searches for Satisfyer more than anywhere else in Europe (200 per 100,000 people a month), Czechia leads on kegel balls (34), and Poland searches for vibrators about 3 times as often as Germany (176 vs 58). The rose toy craze is mainly an American story: suction toys are 19.9% of US toy category searches, but under 9% in every continental European country except Italy.

Sex toy statistics usually come from surveys, which depend on what people are willing to tell a researcher. Search data shows something different: what people type into Google when nobody is asking. We pulled monthly search estimates for seven toy categories, lube and six leading brands in 15 countries, in English and in each local language, and adjusted for population so small and large countries can be compared.

Key Findings

  • Netherlands: the top country for Satisfyer searches among the 15 we analysed, 200 per 100,000 people a month, about 2.5× the rate in Germany, where the brand is based.
  • Czechia: the highest kegel ball search rate in our data (34 per 100,000), about 3× Germany. Kegel balls are 11% of Czech searches for toy categories (brand names excluded).
  • Poland: the most vibrator searches per head (176 per 100,000) and the most dildo searches (168), but brands are only 10% of Polish toy searches, against 43% in the Netherlands.
  • Rose toys: 19.9% of US toy category searches are for rose or suction toys. Ireland (15.6%) comes closest; every continental European country is under 9%, except Italy at 11.6%.
  • Northern Europe searches for lube: Sweden (60 per 100,000) and Finland (58) search for lubricant more than twice as often as Germany (24) or the US (23).
  • Overall: the UK (1,006), France (796, probably overstated, see Methodology), Sweden (782) and the Netherlands (690) show the most toy searches per head; Spain, Italy and Austria the fewest.

The Netherlands: Satisfyer Searches Lead

Of the 15 countries we analysed, none searches for Satisfyer as often as the Netherlands: 200 searches per 100,000 people a month. That is ahead of Sweden (179) and Finland (164), and about 2.5 times the rate in Germany (80). Brand names make up 43% of all Dutch toy searches (table base), the highest share of any country we looked at. Dutch searchers also look for dildos (141 per 100,000) and vibrators (89) more often than most of Europe.

Czechia: Kegel Balls Lead

Czechia has the highest kegel ball search rate in our data, 34 per 100,000 people a month, mostly for "venušiny kuličky" (Venus balls). Kegel balls make up 11% of Czech searches for toy categories (brand names excluded); in every other country it is under 7%. Poland is second (23), then Finland (16). In Germany the rate is 11 and in the UK 5. If you are new to them, our guide on how to use kegel balls covers the basics.

Poland: Vibrators, Not Brands

Poland searches for vibrators more than any other country we looked at: 176 searches per 100,000 people a month, against 58 in Germany. Poland also leads on dildo searches (168 per 100,000, ahead of the Netherlands at 141). What Polish searchers rarely type is a brand name: only 10% of Polish toy searches are for one of the six brands, one of the lowest shares in Europe.

The Rose Toy Is an American Craze

Rose-shaped and other suction toys account for 19.9% of US toy category searches. Ireland (15.6%) and the UK (8.6%) are the closest in Europe, and per head the UK (59 per 100,000) and Ireland (47) search for these toys most after the US (75). In continental Europe the share is below 9% everywhere except Italy (Netherlands 8.9%, Germany 5.8%, Spain 5.7%). Italy stands out at 11.6%, driven by the Italian term "succhia clitoride" (about 13,000 searches a month). For background, see what a rose toy is, or compare suction, tongue and wand styles in our clitoral vibrator guide.

Northern Europe Searches for Lube

Sweden (60 searches per 100,000), Finland (58), Poland (55), Denmark (55) and the Netherlands (54) search for lubricant far more often than Germany (24) or the US (23).

Germany and Austria: Fewer Searches Per Head

Germany is the most populous country in our study, but per head it ranks 11th of 15 (383 toy searches per 100,000 people), and Austria 13th (315). Only Italy and Spain rank below Austria. Germany does search for Satisfyer more than most countries (80 per 100,000), but well behind the Netherlands, Sweden and Finland.

Methodology

  • Source: Ahrefs Keywords Explorer, estimated average monthly Google search volume per country (Ahrefs averages the last 12 months), retrieved on 28 October 2026.
  • Countries: Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, United Kingdom, Ireland and United States.
  • Terms: seven toy categories (sex toys in general, vibrators, rose and suction toys, dildos, love eggs and remote vibrators, kegel balls, tongue and licking vibrators) plus lube. In each country we counted the English terms (for example "sex toys", "dildo", "rose toy") plus up to three local-language terms per category (for example "seksspeeltjes", "venušiny kuličky", "wibrator"). Brands: Satisfyer, Womanizer, Lovense, LELO, We-Vibe and Lovehoney.
  • Per-capita figures: monthly searches divided by 2025 population estimates, per 100,000 residents.
  • Robustness check: we re-ran vibrator and kegel ball searches including long-tail phrases containing the local word and removing unrelated results (such as "wibrator do betonu", a concrete vibrator). Poland and Czechia stayed first.
  • Limits: search volumes are estimates, not exact counts, and show interest rather than purchases. Some terms are probably overstated or ambiguous. In France, "jouets sexuels" (150,000 searches a month) and "womanizer" (also a common English word and a song title) together make up about half of the French total; without them France would score about 405 and rank 10th. "Lovehoney" is also the name of a large retailer, which raises the UK figure and especially Ireland's (about 36% of the Irish total); the UK stays first without it. Local head terms such as "wibrator" also catch some non-sexual uses (for example construction vibrators). Words people search that are not on our list are not counted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which country searches for sex toys the most?

Per head of population, the United Kingdom shows the most sex toy searches in our data (1,006 per 100,000 people a month), followed by France (796), Sweden (782) and the Netherlands (690). France's figure rests heavily on two terms that are probably overestimated ("jouets sexuels" and "womanizer"); without them it would be about 405 and rank 10th. Spain (295), Italy (297) and Austria (315) show the fewest.

Where in Europe do people search for Satisfyer the most?

The Netherlands: 200 searches for "satisfyer" per 100,000 people a month, about 2.5 times the German rate (80), even though Satisfyer is a German brand. Sweden (179) and Finland (164) follow.

Which country searches for kegel balls the most?

Czechia, with 34 searches per 100,000 people a month, mostly for "venušiny kuličky". Poland is second (23). In the UK the figure is 5.

Is the rose toy trend as big in Europe as in the US?

No. Rose and other suction toys make up 19.9% of sex toy category searches in the US. Ireland (15.6%) is the closest in Europe; every continental European country is under 9% except Italy (11.6%).

How were these numbers calculated?

We took Ahrefs' estimated average monthly Google search volume (a 12-month average, retrieved in October 2026) for sex toy terms in English and each local language, plus leading brand names, and divided by each country's population. The figures show search interest, not sales.
